Shakeology Cleanse Explained
What is the Shakeology Cleanse?
The shakeology cleanse is something being discussed in many circles, yet so many people still have no idea exactly what it is. With so many cleanse products available on the market today, it’s very important to highlight what makes this cleanse different from the rest. There’s no shakeology scam going on here, just truth about one of the best products to hit the marketplace in a very long time. In fact, here’s a link to a wonderful Shakeology cleanse faq.
The most glaring difference between the Shakeology cleanse and most other products out their is that it’s not weird. You don’t have to ingest some strange concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper, or anything crazy like that. For the most part, you will consume meals on the same basic schedule you would normally follow, with lower caloric intake and the best meal replacement shakes for weight loss substituting in.
The Shakeology cleanse is much different than a traditional cleanse. While most cleanses restrict both calories and nutritional value, this program is a calorie restricted but nutrient rich one. This is greatly important, because you will be able to continue with or begin your workout program while going through this cleanse, while with most others available on the market, you’re not receiving enough nutrition to maintain an exercise regimen. What is Shakeology? It’s a nutrient bath for your insides!
It should be said, though, that the Shakeology cleanse was NOT meant to be used if you are in the middle of using an intense workout program, such as Insanity, P90X or Turbo Fire. If you’re currently following a workout program, the optimum time for the cleanse is during your recovery phase.
How Does the shakeology cleanse Work?
Depending on your goals for the Shakeology cleanse, you’ll be eating frequently, and consuming between 800 and 1,200 calories per day. If you need to you can eat more, but staying within that range will give you optimal results. I think you’ll find this information to be fairly consistent in any Shakeology review you happen to come across.
The point of the Shakeology cleanse is not calorie restriction, but nutrient efficiency. You want to get the most nutrients possible into the fewest number of calories. This program is structured to put all of these calories to use as a part of your exercise regimen, rid your body of undigested foods and toxins, and stabilize your body’s hydration level. Have you found other fat loss tips online that help you understand how they work, to this great a level of detail?
The Shakeology cleanse is NOT a weight loss program, though this has been a great added benefit for many of our clients. Again, the goal here is for your body to run more efficiently, while still maintaining an exercise plan.
While doing the Shakeology cleanse, it’s important to remember that water is your friend. That bloat feeling you may have is more than likely caused by a lack of water in your body, and far too much sodium in it. To bring your system back into balance, increased water intake is essential, not just recommended.
Eliminate processed foods, sodas, alcohols, juices completely during the Shakeology cleanse. Really, you should try to eliminate processed foods from your diet altogether, but let’s take this thing one step at a time. Replace your normal intake of those other liquids with water, and you’ll be surprised at how much of an impact that has on your cleanse.
Coffee and tea, which are diuretics, should be minimized during the Shakeology cleanse, and eliminated if possible. Again, performance is the key, so if you need a cup of coffee, drink one. Just use only as needed, and don’t use additives. Eliminate sugar and chemicals as much as possible, also. However, do not replace sugary drinks for ones with artificial sweeteners.
Coffee drinkers may find that switching to black tea during a Shakeology cleanse will give you the energy you’re looking for with less gastric complications. Coffee’s acidic nature can negatively impact your cleanse.
During the Shakeology cleanse, it’s recommended to keep your shakes to just Shakeology, without adding fruits of any kind, or seeds (for fat and fiber), or the Shakeology Fiber supplement. Again, though, use your best judgment in doing what will allow you to stick to the cleanse for all three days.
Your one daily solid meal throughout the Shakeology cleanse is a salad. As we all know from any salad bar, the ingredients of a salad can vary. The goal of the salad in the plan is to keep your calories coming from natural sources (no artificial ingredients should be added, including artificial salad dressing). Aside from that, you can add ingredients as necessary. Keep your meat intake to four ounces or less, but add vegetables, seeds, nuts, fruits, and legumes in quantities to satisfy your hunger.

This is a great post!! I started my 3 day cleanse today. I have had great success with the 3 I’ve done in the past and love how amazing I feel after the 3 days. It’s like hitting the reset button for me when I get off my normal clean diet and start eating junk. The more junk I eat, the more I crave it. Yet with the cleanse my body is getting the nutrition it needs and the cravings stop.
Great post anyone looking to get a quick start on beachbody workout program should cleanse and follow this post

I have been wanting to do a shakeology cleanse for a while now. Not really for weight loss, more for cleaning out my system and the health benefits… Food makes such a huge difference in how you feel and your overall health.. I was thinking of a raw fruit/veggie + shakeology cleanse.. with water and the green tea you mentioned.. but no salad dressing at all.. substitute olive oil.

Hi there- good information. I’m going to start my 3 day cleanse tommorow. I’m not so much looking for weight loss-but rather resetting myself after Thanksgiving. I do have a question, however. Can you explain how it is possible to lose anymore than maybe a pound after completing the cleanse? I always thought it was calories in, calories out that determines this. If someone is taking in 1000 calories a day during the cleanse, then they would have to burn and approximately 3400- 5100 calories a day over and above whatever their basal metabolic demand is in order to lose 3-5 lbs of fat. Is it water weight that is being lost? Thanks
Melanie, thanks for the comment, and excellent question! Calories in/Calories out is the basic formula for weight loss or gain, but let’s dig in a bit further to understand everything that takes place during a Shakeology cleanse to help jump start a person’s metabolism.
1-The average American typically eats a diet that reduces the effectiveness of their metabolism to burn calories, we have to keep in mind that a calorie is a unit of energy, so just like starting a campfire, the more efficient means of starting that fire you use AND the more efficient fuel source you use to keep it going, the more productive that fire will be, the better fire you’re able to create. Your body is the same way.
2-During the cleanse, we’re restricting calories, but not to the point of starvation, as some cleanses do. A person on the Shakeology cleanse should be able to maintain or begin a workout regimen, though I certainly wouldn’t recommend a super intense workout during those 3 days.
3-So by combining efficient fuel (Shakeology), calorie restriction AND increased activity, people are able to achieve greater weight loss with the Shakeology cleanse. However, there are some people who are able to achieve those same weight loss effects, even before they begin their workout program, because the cleanse gets the gunk out of their system. Just like your car operates better after an oil change, so does your body run better after the cleanse.
According to your instructions, its 1 scoop of shakeology 3 times a day. All of the other instructions I’ve seen, and that was given to me when it was purchased was 2 scoops per shake. The nutritional value on the bag is 2 scoops per serving. Am I missing something?
Kristina, the instructions on the bag of Shakeology call for one scoop, so I have no idea where you’re getting 2 scoops, unless maybe you have the sample bag that Beachbody offers to customers? you can find the serving information here:
