Facebook Marketing Strategies Revealed-How to Get Over the Disappearance of the Suggest to Friends Tab
I was going through a few postings in one of the syndication tribes I belong to last night, and came across an article by Josh Constine about the death of many of my online friends favorite facebook marketing strategies.
Once I finished reading it, my wheels immediately started turning, and I knew that it was up to me to save the day. So I went to the closet, grabbed out my super ninja suit, and cooked up this Facebook marketing tip that will make you all forget that Facebook ever even HAD a Suggest to Friends button on their fan pages.
The code that I mention can be found at this link: fbshare swipe.
Just copy and paste the code, and swap out the content in ALL CAPS with your own.
Leave me a comment and let me know if this helps, or if you have any questions about this facebook marketing tip!

Is it working for you? Only 6 invites?
Unfortunately, this one does work a little bit slower than the Suggest to Friends button, but it does work, you just have to be a bit more patient with this strategy.
Hi Jamie,
I just had one question here ….. the form is not complete when i add the script… 3/4 of it is vanished due to sizing problem on the fbml page
please help how to rectify this
Daksh, unfortunately, I’m not sure there is a way to fix either of those, that I know of. But, if you find a way to do it, let me know, and I’ll link to you when you post it.
Jamie
You have to add this @ the end of the code: cols=”3″/>
That will fix the sizing problem

Jeffrey, thanks for the reply, I will add that to my page in the morning!
Jamie
Im having the issue where after i suggest to friends, and skip to optional send email invites, it takes me to an invalid request page. any suggestions?
Jeffrey-that fix isn’t working for me, do I need to delete any of the code, or just stick it onto the end?
Aaron, I will work on it, and see what I can come up with, but I’m not sure why that is, so if anyone else comes across a fix to Aaron’s question before I do, please fee free to post it here.
When the request is sent it comes from ‘static fbml 3′. I understand that is the app that send the request but can you customize? ‘static fbml 2′ looks like a scam to me.
Chris, that’s an awesome question as well. There should be a way to fix that, let me take a look around and see though. I’m not a pro coder, but I’m getting really good at researching stuff online
I’m having the exact same problem like Aaron.
Is there a fix for this?
UPDATE: So here’s what I figured out today: Quotation marks make a huge difference! Try this-change out all of the smart quotes, single or double, and install straight quotes. This may help.
Additionally, I’ve changed to using a different code I found that’s a little cleaner, it’s:
<fb:request-form method=”POST” type=”Your Fan Page Name Here” invite=”true” action=”http://www.facebook.com/multi_friend_selector.php” content=”Check out Your Fan Page Name Here on Facebook! “>
Just remember to replace all the quotes with straight quotes-not sure if this helps with your and Aaron’s issue, since it seems to eliminate the send email invites option, but it is another way that you could go.
Hey Jamie
I’m not sure If I ever tried this before. But I downloaded a app from my browser that has the SUGGEST TO ALL FRIENDS option. I used it myself and it appears to have worked actually, but didn’t get a huge response of friends that did opt in to my Fan PAGE. So I started to wonder if it either didn’t work entirely or I don’t have any real friends that are within my actual circle. WHO knows still remains to be unknown. But thanks for sharing.

Hello Jamie, maybe they didn’t forget it, they just stop using it for some reason. For you to be able to use the suggest to friend button you need to have a lot of friends other wise, it won’t work. The problem with Facebook now is they are pretty strict in adding friends. We’ve been doing 10 friend request in a day, if we exceed on that number, message will pop up saying that you’ve been engaging something like it is annoying to others if you keep doing that we will block your account. So how do we come up with a thousand friends, so that you can suggest your page to your thousand of friends? It will take sometime for you to reach it. Maybe that’s their reason. If you hire VA to do that for you it will cost an additional expenses.
Thanks Casey! Facebook changes almost on a daily basis, and sometimes it can be hard to stay ahead of the curve.
Thanks for sharing this tip. I found also an app on Facebook called Suggest This. However, suggestions are limited to just 12 friends at a time (a limit imposed by Facebook). Instructions are already there in the link i provided.
